Krista Babuik, B.A.

Master’s student

Krista’s research and clinical interests are strongly rooted in workplace mental health, psychological well-being, and helping people feel supported in accessing care. Her M.A. thesis focuses on employee-perceived outcomes of workplace mental health supports in the Ontario mining sector, specifically relating to Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) use, accessibility, stigma, and barriers to seeking support.

Krista is currently working as a career advisor at Laurentian University. In this role, she supports students and alumni with career development, employment readiness, and navigating personal and mental wellness-related challenges that can impact work and school. Krista is also a busy mom to two young boys, which has furthered her interest in balance, resilience, and supporting overall well-being in everyday life.

Krista also has work experience in community mental health promotion with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Sudbury/Manitoulin, where she developed a passion for mental health advocacy, education, and supporting individuals through difficult periods. She is now especially interested in psychological assessment, evidence-based practice, and the intersection of mental health, work, and everyday functioning.

Krista is excited to join the MNDFL Collective team to learn from everyone’s experience and perspectives and build on her clinical skills in a supportive and family-like environment.

I feel very privileged when someone feels comfortable opening up to me about their struggles because I know that getting to that point is rarely simple or linear. I value creating a space where people feel heard and understood exactly where they are.

As I continue my journey in clinical psychology, I hope to thoughtfully support individuals through their challenges while building strong therapeutic relationships grounded in empathy, curiosity, growth, and, when needed, a bit of humour.
